Dialpad Agentic AI Agents: autonomous work inside a communications platform

Dialpad embeds configurable voice and digital AI agents in a wider communications and contact-center platform. The opportunity is substantial, but home-service operators must decide whether they want a flexible platform to shape or a packaged lead-to-booked-job operation.

Dialpad's proposition is larger than putting a bot on the phone. It wants AI agents, human agents, voice, digital channels, business communications, and conversation intelligence to operate on one foundation. A customer can begin with a question, let an AI Agent find the relevant knowledge, allow it to carry out an approved task, and reach a person with the prior context intact when the conversation calls for judgment.

That architecture gives Dialpad a credible advantage over a point solution that only automates the first ring. It also frames the buying decision correctly. An Agentic AI Agent is one part of a broader Dialpad environment, not a standalone staffed answering service and not a preconfigured home-services CSR.

Agentic AI inside a communications platform

Dialpad's current Agentic AI Agents are autonomous, configurable agents designed to do more than retrieve an answer. They can interpret a request, consult connected knowledge, choose an available skill, use a connector to read or change another system, and escalate when a person should take over. Dialpad uses examples such as authenticating a customer, creating or updating a CRM record, checking an order, opening a ticket, delivering two-factor authentication, recommending a product, and booking an appointment.

The product-generation distinction matters. Dialpad also documents an older Generative (Classic) product built around web chat and semantic knowledge search. Its behavior, setup, and feature descriptions should not be used as the definition of the current Agentic offering. A demo and order form should say "Agentic AI Agent" explicitly so an evaluation is based on the product being purchased rather than legacy Generative AI Agent material.

Around those agents, Dialpad sells business phone service, contact center, sales, meetings, messaging, workforce management, coaching, and analytics. That portfolio is a real strength for a company seeking one communications strategy. It does not mean every adjacent Dialpad capability is automatically included with the AI Agent. The commercial and technical boundaries still need to be made visible.

From conversation to completed work

Voice and chat are the clearest documented starting points. On voice, an Agentic AI Agent can sit in the routing path for a Contact Center, Department, or Main Line. On digital channels, the agent can conduct the conversation and escalate into the customer's contact center. Dialpad's October 2025 launch announcement also described shared context across voice, web chat, SMS, email, and WhatsApp. Because launch announcements can run ahead of the exact packaging available to an account, every required channel should appear in the quote and in a live production-style demonstration.

The important capability is continuity. A well-designed agent can gather the request, look up the right information, take a permitted action, and then pass a transcript and context to the human team instead of making the customer start again. For an existing Dialpad contact center, that means AI work and human work can share routing, queues, records, and analytics rather than creating a separate conversational island.

The customer still supplies the people behind the escalation. Dialpad does not bundle a live receptionist workforce with Agentic AI Agents. Open and closed hours, queue behavior, transfer destinations, overflow, and the final fallback therefore belong in the operating design. Agentic AI Agents are currently documented in English, with other languages described as coming later. Confirm language, country, number, and channel availability for every location before assuming one configuration can serve the whole footprint.

Dialpad can also initiate outbound bot conversations and appointment reminders. Those capabilities may support targeted journeys, but Dialpad does not present the Agentic AI Agent as a complete outbound campaign dialer, consent and do-not-call system, or packaged home-services speed-to-lead engine. A buyer that needs those outcomes should validate the entire workflow, not infer it from the presence of outbound actions.

The communications platform comes first

The AI Agent sits inside Dialpad's account, channel, and routing structure. Dialpad says AI Agents are available to Dialpad Support Advanced and Premium customers, and connecting an Agentic AI Agent to a contact center requires Digital Contact Center. Voice deployment also depends on the relevant Main Line, Department, or Contact Center and its call-routing configuration. In other words, buying the agent can become a wider communications-platform decision.

That is attractive when a company already wants Dialpad for telephony, contact center, digital service, and human-agent workflows. Existing queues, numbers, users, reporting, and conversation context can become the foundation for AI rather than infrastructure that must be recreated elsewhere. The platform's horizontal design also gives an enterprise room to automate many service and sales processes over time.

For a contractor beginning with a narrower question—"Who will answer, qualify, and book this home-service lead?"—the surrounding scope deserves careful attention. A complete proposal should identify the Support edition, Digital Contact Center requirement, telephony products, users, numbers, channels, countries, languages, environments, transfer destinations, and credit pool. It should also separate the Dialpad products the company already owns from the ones that must be added for the proposed call flow to work.

Skills, connectors, and real system actions

Knowledge gives the Agentic AI Agent something reliable to say; skills and connectors give it something useful to do. Dialpad can connect knowledge from sources such as Zendesk, Document360, Box, Guru, and Google Drive, as well as web content and uploaded documents. Skills then describe the intended task, instructions, permitted actions, connections, and guardrails. Within a connector, individual data operations can expose tightly defined work such as creating a contact, updating a lead, or logging a call note.

Dialpad names systems such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, Zendesk, HubSpot, Bullhorn, Google Calendar and Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, Athenahealth, Calendly, and Zoho CRM in its Agentic AI Agent materials. This gives the product meaningful horizontal flexibility: an agent can move a workflow forward instead of merely telling the customer what an employee will do later.

Dialpad's broader integration marketplace and open API extend the platform further. A marketplace logo, however, does not establish that the same product is a native Agentic AI Agent connector, and the launch announcement's "40+ native integrations" should be reconciled with the current builder. Confirm the purchased edition, authentication method, channel, available data operations, and read/write permissions for every action in the proposed workflow.

This is especially important for home services. Dialpad's current Agentic AI Agent connector documentation does not name ServiceTitan. A ServiceTitan-based operator should determine whether Dialpad proposes a supported connector, custom API work, middleware, or a human fallback. Then test the precise customer, location, job type, availability, campaign, appointment, and disposition fields the office relies on. Duplicate behavior, retries, failed writes, rollback, audit history, and responsibility for future API changes are part of the integration—not implementation trivia.

Build, test, launch, and keep improving

Dialpad provides a no-code or low-code path for defining the agent's company context, task, voice, tone, greeting, knowledge, skills, actions, and guardrails. The builder can validate a skill before publication, and its test experience lets the team simulate conversations before connecting the agent to live voice or digital traffic. Dialpad also exposes transcripts, metadata, analytics, and optimization signals that can guide later changes.

That toolset can make deployment faster than a conventional custom software project. Dialpad has said implementation can take weeks rather than quarters, but the statement is not a delivery guarantee. A simple knowledge-and-transfer agent and a multi-location agent that authenticates customers, reads live availability, writes bookings, and handles exceptions are different projects.

The strongest rollout turns the builder into an operating discipline. Start with a bounded queue such as after-hours or overflow, use real knowledge and realistic connected data, and define success before the first production call. Then test interruptions, background noise, silence, ambiguous requests, unavailable slots, stale knowledge, duplicate customers, connector timeouts, sensitive-data requests, transfer failures, and closed-hours behavior. Each skill should specify when confirmation is required, what data may be read or changed, when the agent must stop, and what the caller experiences when the preferred action fails.

Internal ownership should be equally concrete. A Company or Office Admin creates the Agentic AI Agent, but launch also needs accountable owners for knowledge, connector credentials, call routing, guardrails, human coverage, cost alerts, quality review, and incident response. The order form should state what Dialpad, a services partner, and the customer will each do during discovery, configuration, integration, testing, launch, and ongoing support. Support hours, response targets, escalation routes, and any production service commitment belong in the agreement.

The credit-based commercial model

Dialpad does not publish a dollar price for Agentic AI Agents. Quotes are built around a pool of AI Agent credits and conversation-based billing, on top of the relevant communications and contact-center products. Public per-seat prices for other Dialpad plans therefore do not describe the cost of this deployment.

Under Dialpad's conversation and credit rules, a conversation becomes billable when the customer and AI interact, the AI performs at least one lookup or task, and the session closes under Dialpad's billing logic. A conversation transferred to a person can still consume a credit if the agent called a skill before the transfer. Voice and digital AI Agent usage is tracked separately.

Administrators can receive alerts at 80%, 90%, and 100% of usage and choose whether the account recharges or pauses. Monthly and annual commitment credits reset according to the applicable commitment, while Dialpad describes universal credits separately. These controls are useful, but finance should model the actual call mix. Short inquiries, repeat callers, reopened digital threads, abandoned sessions, failed skills, transfers, and conversations that cross channels can produce different cost behavior.

A decision-ready quote should show the dollar cost per credit, included pool, minimum commitment, contract term, renewal treatment, recharge or overage rate, pause behavior, and unused-credit treatment. It should say whether voice and digital credits are interchangeable and separate implementation, custom integration, phone, contact-center, number, and seat charges. Cancellation, refund, and AI-Agent-specific service terms should be visible alongside the headline commitment.

Data, security, and governance

Dialpad's Trust Center lists programs and attestations including SOC 2, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, PCI DSS, HIPAA, NIST, CSA STAR, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, GDPR, LGPD, and CPRA/CCPA. That is a substantial enterprise security foundation. Applicability can vary by service and contract, so the review should identify the reports, regions, products, connectors, and data flows covered by the proposed Agentic AI Agent deployment.

Dialpad says its products can be used in a HIPAA environment once a business associate agreement is signed. The BAA is one part of the control model rather than blanket coverage for every workflow or third-party integration. Product configuration, access, retention, connector data flow, and supplier coverage still need to match the use case.

The Dialpad privacy policy addresses audio, video, messages, transcripts, and integration data used by the service. Permanent customer data is stored in US Google Cloud by default unless an administrator selects another available region; temporary processing may occur elsewhere. Dialpad's AI data information says customers can opt out of using their data to train Dialpad AI models without losing access to the service. Confirm the selected preference, model providers, processing path, and regional effect for the purchased configuration.

Retention needs the same precision. Dialpad distinguishes data retention from how long content remains accessible in the product. Administrators can set custom periods of at least one day and select deletion scopes for content alone or content plus personally identifiable information. Dialpad says default account data may remain until deletion or cancellation and describes deletion after account closure as occurring within 180 days. Before launch, document the actual treatment of recordings, transcripts, prompts, knowledge, connector payloads, action logs, backups, and exports.

How Dialpad could work in home services

Dialpad's horizontal flexibility can support recognizable home-service moments, provided the operator builds and proves the industry logic around them.

After-hours and overflow answering

A caller can reach an Agentic AI Agent when the office is closed or the queue is full, explain the need in natural language, receive an answer from approved knowledge, and transfer to an on-call person with context. The test is whether the agent distinguishes routine, urgent, unsafe, out-of-area, commercial, and existing-customer situations using the contractor's actual policies—not merely whether it answers every call.

Qualification, scheduling, and connected action

The skills model can collect contact and job details, consult a calendar or connected system, and book an appointment. That is valuable when the necessary objects and actions are available. A contractor should prove service-area eligibility, customer matching, job type, membership status, capacity, confirmation, rescheduling, cancellation, and write-back in the live field system. Without verified dispatch rules and FSM actions, "book an appointment" may still leave the office with manual repair.

Multi-location communication

Dialpad's shared communications, contact-center, routing, and analytics foundation can appeal to an operator consolidating locations. The home-services layer still has to route overlapping territories, location-specific hours, brands, offers, business units, emergency ladders, and schedule capacity correctly. A broad platform makes those designs possible; it does not document them as prebuilt trades workflows.

Outbound reminders and follow-up

Agentic AI Agents can support outbound bot conversations and appointment reminders. A home-service revenue operation often needs more: immediate response to web and marketplace leads, missed-call recovery, open-estimate follow-up, maintenance and membership outreach, consent and suppression controls, booking, and attribution through completed work. Dialpad's AI Agent materials do not present that full lifecycle as a packaged home-services motion, so operators should not equate an outbound capability with an operating campaign system.

Where Dialpad is strong and where the work remains

Dialpad deserves real credit for its communications foundation. It can connect business telephony, voice and digital contact-center interactions, human teams, AI Agents, workforce tools, coaching, and analytics in one ecosystem. The knowledge, skill, connector, action, and guardrail model offers far more horizontal freedom than a receptionist product limited to answering, routing, and message taking. For an existing Dialpad customer—or an enterprise that wants communications consolidation—that breadth can be the reason to buy.

The tradeoff is not that the platform lacks capability. It is that the customer must turn general capability into the exact operating outcome. Channel entitlements and total platform cost require a quote. Human fallback, connector reliability, testing, and improvement need named owners. Dialpad does not publish standard discovery hours, custom-connector services, acceptance tests, support response times, or a dedicated AI Agent SLA, so those commitments must be established commercially.

Dialpad advertises an average 70% "Agentic completion" on its pricing page. The public claim does not disclose its sample, customer and channel mix, timeframe, exclusions, or methodology. Treat it as a directional Dialpad metric, not a forecast of home-service booking, revenue, or resolution in a specific operation.

Most importantly for this buyer, Dialpad does not document home-services depth for Agentic AI Agents. Its current materials do not establish prebuilt trades qualification, emergency triage, dispatch, memberships, campaign attribution, or an AI-Agent-specific ServiceTitan connector. Dialpad can be configured toward those outcomes, but a contractor should price and test the work required to get there.

When the goal is a complete home-services lead operation

Dialpad is the stronger direction when the company wants AI Agents inside a broad communications and contact-center standard. Its telephony foundation, human-agent environment, channel breadth, and horizontal tools give an equipped team room to design customer workflows across many departments and use cases.

Broccoli is the clear choice when the priority is a packaged, trade-specific lead-to-booked-job operation. Broccoli is an all-in-one trades and home-services lead-management platform spanning inbound and outbound voice and SMS, website chat, speed-to-lead, qualification, booking and dispatch, follow-up, QA and coaching, and multi-location reporting. Those capabilities are organized around the path from new opportunity to correctly booked work, rather than offered as horizontal building blocks a contractor must assemble into that path.

That difference becomes concrete on a busy service day. Broccoli can respond to a phone, text, chat, or new digital lead; qualify the opportunity using trades-specific context; move valid work into booking and dispatch; continue follow-up when the customer is not yet ready; and give leaders the QA, coaching, and location-level visibility to improve conversion. The system is built around running the front-office revenue operation, not simply adding an autonomous agent to a communications stack.

Choose Dialpad for communications consolidation and cross-industry configurability. Choose Broccoli when dependable home-service lead handling, speed, booking accuracy, dispatch follow-through, and measurable conversion are the center of the investment.

The decision

Choose Dialpad when the strategic objective is to bring business communications, contact center, human agents, conversation intelligence, and autonomous voice and digital work onto one extensible platform. Its Agentic AI Agents can turn knowledge and connected actions into meaningful automation, especially for organizations already prepared to configure, govern, and extend the Dialpad environment.

Choose Broccoli when the business wins or loses on the home-services journey from first response to booked and dispatched work. For an operator that wants inbound and outbound voice and SMS, website chat, speed-to-lead, qualification, booking and dispatch, follow-up, QA and coaching, and multi-location reporting delivered as one trade-specific lead-management operation, Broccoli is the more focused—and clear—choice.
