Introducing Voice Studio: a voice your community already knows

Voice Studio gives your Broccoli AI phone agent a custom voice. Synthesize your best CSR's voice, describe a new one, or pick from 30+ platform voices.

The first thing a caller learns about your business is how it sounds. Before they hear a price or an arrival window, they hear a voice, and within a few seconds they have decided whether it sounds like someone they know. The same greeting lands differently in a familiar accent than in a voice that could belong to any company in the country.

Today we're launching Voice Studio. It gives your Broccoli AI voice agent a voice your community already knows. You can synthesize the voice of someone on your team, create a new voice from a one-sentence description, or choose from more than 30 platform voices, then compare any of them with the voice you use today.

Customers have been asking us for voices that fit their brand. Voice Studio is a place to listen, compare and create.

A voice your customers already recognize

Most home service businesses already have a voice their customers know. It belongs to the CSR who has answered the phone for years, the one callers ask for by name. Voice Studio lets your agent carry that voice, so a caller who rings after hours, or when every line is busy, still hears one they recognize.

Capturing it takes a few minutes. You can upload a recording of a call that person has already taken, anywhere from 10 seconds to 3 minutes long, or have them read a short script in the browser. The script takes about 3 minutes and includes cues to laugh, pause and soften, which capture how that person really sounds on a call. Voice Studio then returns three versions to choose from.

Reading the script takes about three minutes, with cues for tone along the way.

New voices from a single sentence

Some businesses want a voice that doesn't exist yet. In Voice Studio you can describe one in plain words, such as "a warm, calm woman in her 40s with a light Southern accent, friendly but professional, not salesy," and get three options back.

Creating a voice from a description in Voice Studio. The description reads jolly old Santa Claus, deep and booming, and the new December voice appears under Your voices.
A one-line description becomes a new voice under Your voices.

Because a new voice only takes a sentence, choosing one stops being a one-time decision. A business can give each location its own voice, or change voices with the calendar. Here is the same heating and air company in December and in October:

A new voice usually takes a few minutes to prepare. It builds in the background and appears under Your voices when it's ready, so nobody has to wait on it. The voices you create are private to your organization, and you can make as many as you want.

More than 30 voices for every community

For teams that want to start right away, Voice Studio includes a library of more than 30 platform voices, each one ready for calls. The library spans American, Southern, British and Australian English as well as Spanish, across a range of ages.

That range matters because a business with several locations rarely serves one kind of community. An office in Atlanta and an office in San Antonio can each answer in a voice that sounds like home.

Every platform voice comes with a sample call.

Every voice plays a sample call, so you hear it handling a real greeting and not reading a tagline. You can search by name or filter by gender, accent and age.

Side-by-side comparison before you switch

A voice is easier to judge next to another one than on its own. Voice Studio plays any voice against the one your agent uses today, on the same sample call, so the difference is easy to hear. When one is clearly better, switching takes one click and your agent answers in the new voice.

Delivery that matches the moment

A good voice still has to deliver the line well. A caller with no heat and a caller confirming a routine tune-up shouldn't hear the same tone. Expressive mode, which we introduced in September, adds natural pauses and emphasis, so the agent can sound sympathetic when something is wrong and upbeat when the job is booked.

In Voice Studio, Expressive mode is on by default for every voice that supports it, including the voices you create.
